Hold on to what is good even if it is a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe even if it is a tree which stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do even if it is a long way from here.
Hold on to life even when it is easier letting go.
Hold on to my hand even when I have gone away from you.

WARNING!!!! if you know me personally, you may read my diary, but if you do, you take the chance of hearing things you don't want to know, misunderstanding what I've written and being hurt by it. If you are unsure if it is ok to read, save yourself and me the grief and heartache, and ask first!!! Please note that this is a DIARY, ie my subjective feelings, hearsay, suppositions, and outpourings of ranting of the moment. It does not represent objective news, the whole of what I think of a topic or someone, or even a thought-out representation of any of the above. Keep that in mind. Thanks. * Here is a Diary Etiquette Read Me.

Fairytales and Folklore

Do you know, I just do not in any way, shape or form get why people are Christians.

Other than it was stories that was told to them as a child, or that they heard and chose to believe in.

Hell, some people hear Scientology and Raelienism and believe in that, so intelligent, educated people can decide to believe just about anything, and those are wonky, non-mainstream stories. So I guess it should be no surprise that people believe in Christianity and the Bible as truth.

But it makes about as much sense to me as picking up any book on mythology and creation myths, philosophical systems etc at random off a library bookshelf in the anthropology section, opening it up and reading a belief and going "yeah, that's it, THAT Is how the world came to be, and THESE are the rules to follow in life".

It makes no sense to me why pick one or another. None.

If you grew up in a culture, and within that got "girls don't play drums, the turtle god wants you to pray seven times a day facing the south, only the non-chosen people eat crickets, good people cover their ankles, bad people don't wear hats to show humility" as your teachings with your mother's milk, and that was that... like wearing a kimono if you were Japanese three hundred years ago, ok I get it.

But now? As a modern person? To chose to believe both that God is shapeless, formless, eternal and omnipresent, AND to believe that Man is created in God's image (how the hell can that be??), that He is a Lord and King (talk about nonsensical concepts for a being who always was, always is, and is the one and only, and humans only came on the scene 6000 years ago) and also that he is so vast that the universe is something he created like making a model ship on the weekend but also listens to prayers about getting into grad school or your impacted wisdom tooth, choses sides in wars between man-created countries...

... created the whole universe but somehow has "only one son"... what the hell is a SON to a formless shapeless being infusing the whole of known and unknown universe, larger and beyond that? That is like saying "the son of the wind"... now there is a concept for tribal animism. No, supposedly this concept has a son (again made in his image while he has no image????) and redeems all creation through putting that son through three days of torture, despite all the torture of all his creatures that die day in and day out? But you will die and be in hell forever if you don't believe in his son? (where is hell? What is suffering for eternity if our bodies are gone? What even if suffering if there is eternity? Are we one with or separate from the universe when we die, and we are with God or not?)

What would be the point of a soul becoming embodied if you had about a 1 in 1000 chance of being with your creator in happiness for life, and about a 999 in 1000 chance of picking the wrong religion, dying before baptism, disbelieving etc, being tempted into sin (well, let's try to cover all the ways one can be a non-Christian, or not good-enough Christian... and that is how many souls are supposedly wished into bodies on earth by God)? I mean hello? A soul getting shoved into a body under this thought system (and we need two people male and female boinking to get the soul here in the first place, and we know that almost all of those are not trying to make babies, just get a little nookie) is getting into the worst game of russian roulette imaginable.

Totally wacked out system of thought.
Sorry folks.
I just don't get it.
Why believe these stories? Why base your life on it? Why why why?

Back to tradition I guess.
Kimonos on Japanese people 300 years ago.
Christianity on Modern Humans.

In 2000 years Christianity will be something in museums next to Egyptian tombs.

(yes it is religion on the radio on Sunday)
Go out and enjoy the world.
And pray to the god or not of your choice I guess.
cheers
wenchie
