Hold on to what is good even if it is a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe even if it is a tree which stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do even if it is a long way from here.
Hold on to life even when it is easier letting go.
Hold on to my hand even when I have gone away from you.

WARNING!!!! if you know me personally, you may read my diary, but if you do, you take the chance of hearing things you don't want to know, misunderstanding what I've written and being hurt by it. If you are unsure if it is ok to read, save yourself and me the grief and heartache, and ask first!!! Please note that this is a DIARY, ie my subjective feelings, hearsay, suppositions, and outpourings of ranting of the moment. It does not represent objective news, the whole of what I think of a topic or someone, or even a thought-out representation of any of the above. Keep that in mind. Thanks. * Here is a Diary Etiquette Read Me.

Pumpkin Pie and Leekie Soup

ok, I am like way too late and tired to actually write an entry but here i am.

I've been trying to get a comic done for an anthology book for a friend of mine, do a book cover for an upcoming kid's novel, clean the house after all the time with the South Korea contract mayhem, and tonight I had a neighbor guy, artsyguy we'll call him, and his kid, rollerboy, over for dinner.

I think I mentioned them before. Probably gave them nicknames. Oh dear. I forget.

Anyways, they are the ones who posed for St Joseph teaching carpentry to Jesus when I was drawing a coloring book for a religious place a few years back... two or three years ago. The kid is just now 12 (birthday a couple days ago), and his dad is um, single. hehe. The kid's mom lives (with her boyfriend I think) in the same building as they do, just across the hall. Which is about a half block from me, just around the corner. They used to live about two blocks away, and I never rang them up even though I thought the dad was cool and the kid is great. But now they live really close I've seen them several times in the past two or three weeks.

Sooooo, I bought the kid a drafting brush, an erasing shield and a pencil-like eraser and holder, cuz he really likes drawing, and does detailed work with a pencil. He was quite thrilled with the gift, which altogether probably didn't cost much over 10$. But I had to go to the graphic arts section of an art store to get the stuff... anyways, happy with the gift.

I had dropped by their place last week with a whole wad of huge leeks in hand, and said I was going to make soup, and they expressed interest, so I invited them tonight. Salad with the end of the tomatoes from my garden. Leek and potato soup, with fresh french baguettes, brie and camembert cheese, and then I had attacked the jackolantern, and made a pumpkin pie. With whipped cream.

They were great dinner guests, cuz unlike Disappearing Boy, they EAT! yay! they finished off most of everything, including the pumpkin pie. yay!!

We chatted a bit, looked through some art books, and then walked doggies in the park.

I dunno. There needs to be some sexual spark for things to go anywhere, huh? I am afeared I am on my way to once again being the nice neighborly friendly lady. Just you wait, He's single now, but in a month he'll invite me to dinner with him and the kid, and some nice feminine sweet woman he's just started seeing. blah.

He went to the same art school I did, he's about the same age... was working in cinema, music, theater design, all sorts of things. But now supporting kids (I think he has two... not sure, I think there is a younger one than his son, who maybe is living fulltime with the mom??), he's taken a class in computers and works repairing computer networks, or at least troubleshooting. a real 9-5 job, and then he goes to sleep like 9pm. yikes. I guess if I adopt a kid I'll be more on his beat.

It is funny though... he used to hang out slamdancing at the same bar I used to go to often, a wild and crazy funky artsy place, and we're about the same era. Who knows... I might have slammed with him without knowing in 1985. heh.

Well, now I gotta get to sleep. Gotta deliver the book cover (it is in town... just far enough that I'll get soaked in the rain on my bike tomorrow) when I get up. And then get that comic story done.

And then my other contracts. I cannot tell you how I feel like I got my life back once this South Korea contract was off my plate on Monday!!!! yikes! I really realize now, when I have time to do things like wash windows for the winter, and invite friends for supper, how I have been working doubletime for 5 months now. hah!

OK, gotta sign off! And before you leave diaryland, you gotta read this funny thing about what women do in public washrooms, over at Moody Melinda's, and then hop over to Sleepyzoe's... she has posted for the first time in over 3 months... with her bachelorette and WEDDING pictures!! yup, she is an honest woman now! Remember back two years ago, she was moaning after a nasty married guy who didn't treat her like she deserves? Now she has a great guy who loves her and supports her, and I am so happy for her! She's looking great! And click on her sugarkitty link too to see the corsets and accessories she sews. The girl has talent.
