Garage Sale Rosaries

Ah, finally an early night!

I am fairly satisfied with where i am in my work... though tomorrow may be an allnighter! let's hope not!!

A fun day today, with an early start... imagine! 9:45am!!eeek! Up to do doggywalkies before my voice empowerment class... and shopping at a friend's garage sale during doggywalkies...

BINGO!!

Jackpot with the rosaries! ... I actually sprang for 3 at once... a wonderful black one, a longer daintier white one, and a shorter metal one made in Mexico. The white one has the most delicate of the Jesuses (jesii?)... very feminine rosary with pearl type beads. The medallion has Jesus with his heart on one side and Mary on the other. The black one has black wood beads, and is more sombre with a less detailed Jesus. However the medallion is a beautiful cut-out virgin. And the metal rosary is just more discreet... nothing special, just small and quiet, made in Mexico it says on the little medallion. I got all three for $25!! :)

I also spent more money there... the items were on sale by a friend of mine who has a used clothing store, and most of the things he was selling were from a woman whose mother had died and left tons of vintage clothes... He put the clothes on sale in his shop, but the jewelry and accessories were at his garage sale. I bought two pairs of arm-length kid leather gloves with pearl buttons at the wrist... they fit me perfectly! The elegant fashion solution!... one pair dark brown, almost black, and the other an ivory white. I also bought two scarves... one of which is actually a pair of seethrough sleeves with embroidery on them... you put one arm in each sleeve, and the material continues across your shoulders. I believe it is Indian.

Next up! ... the voice workshop was very fun. But i realize that my throat tightens up and i get body tension as soon as we are going to be sharing in group, vs working alone facing the wall... urk! I have lots of work to do on the voice.

Not so much projection and resonance (which is what we worked on today), but rather phrasing, spacing my words, talking more slowly, leaving spaces between my statements to allow the listener to speak or just to not feel assaulted. Oh dear. I missed the instructions to one excercise going off into a thought about how assaulted ob mustve felt on the phone in the last month or so. drat and little fishes. I have to learn to be succinct, nonblaming... haha, and edit edit edit esp when emotional.

I am very excited about going back tomorrow... the last exercise as a class was delicious today... we lay on our backs with our heads inwards, in a circle, and vocalized vowels, listening to everyone else and ourselves... sort of an improv song. it was so beautiful and calming.

this is where i miss ob. When we do things like this, and i want to share them with her. drat and even more little fishes.

Other than that... got a fan for flamenco in chinatown (i will scan it in the day i write about using it first time in class)...it has a dragon on it which isnt very Spanish, but what the hey! $3!!

and work work work.... good to work.

Off to bed now... just wanted to scan in the rosaries. I wore all three together all day with my black clothes and felt very '80s!! :)

tah tah!
