Andrew's New Look Poll, and Common Law Couples

On other news... cancelled the kiddo's first speech therapy appointment today, as well as the mandarin class this afternoon, due to our coughing, snottiness, and my lack of voice. Hoping that we'll be a bit better tomorrow, or I might kill the social worker with the sheer intensity of my coughing fit after she's asked me two or three questions.
OK, small son is asleep... back to work.
Oh, the question on the news today is "should common law couples have the same rights and responsibilities as married couples?" Apparently in Quebec, over 30% of couples living together are not married, and half of kids have unmarried parents, compated to 13% of couples in the rest of Canada being common law.

a p.s. since Jane left her (contactinformationless) comment: This isn't a "we MUST stick with bubblegummy old diaryland" issue, it is an issue of updating to IMPROVE it or make it worse. I am a grown up too, and really, I am on blogspot, facebook, typepad, and they are all "grownup", but aren't black and grey and dismal. Updating Diaryland could be a great and wonderous thing, where we think "ah, fresh, up to date, userfriendly, attractive!" not "this depresses me so much I want to leave". Even for guys eh.
And really, miss Jane, on my screen, the only things that are red (vs orange) are the color of the newly updated blogs on my buddy list. Check your buddy list. It says, IN RED, that new updates are in RED, and that text is definitely not the same color as the orange lines in the rest of it. In fact, if you check the sourcecode, the gif programmed in for the template is called "greyorangestripeback", not greyredstripe. I admit red would be nicer (though against this color background, it again glows so much it is hard on the eyes). cheers.
