Ukraine Situation Now??
Dang. Looks like the Ukraine is having a meltdown re adoptions. I joined a chatgroup and apparently lately the director there is sick, the offices closed, they are only offering people incredibly ill children (ie with AIDS and missing limbs), the beaurocracy has reached previously unseen levels and they are basically screwing people around.
Some group that went last month had several parents who didn't get a child at all (eeek! $25,000 for no kid!), a couple who finally got a child with incredible hassles and a stay of over a month, and some who are still there trying to get their paperwork through. yikes.
So, this is not going so cheerily, despite all the happy family stories on the internet of people who adopted between 1999 and 2003. Dang.
