Yesterday the exchange rate on my US dollar contract was 1.1945 or somesuch.
A year ago today the exchange rate on my US dollar contracts was 1.3439.
At the end of march 2001 the exchange rate on my US dollar contracts was 1.5265.
Let's see. That means for $1000 US of work I earned $1526.50 Cdn four years ago.
I put it in the bank and left it there. That same $1000 is now worth $1194,50.
And you wonder why last november I argued the South Koreans up from $6000 US for the work to $7000 US for the work... I knew the $7000 would be WORTH $6000 by the time the work was done and paid a year later.
Yay for bankrupting your country. Hope it feels good.
Maybe one day I'll start demanding Canadian dollars from US clients as then the worth will rise not fall.
I guess I just have to work 40% harder to make up for the loss in pay.
