WARNING!!!! if you know me personally, you may read my diary, but if you do, you take the chance of hearing things you don't want to know, misunderstanding what I've written and being hurt by it. If you are unsure if it is ok to read, save yourself and me the grief and heartache, and ask first!!! Please note that this is a DIARY, ie my subjective feelings, hearsay, suppositions, and outpourings of ranting of the moment. It does not represent objective news, the whole of what I think of a topic or someone, or even a thought-out representation of any of the above. Keep that in mind. Thanks. * Here is a Diary Etiquette Read Me. Canada Steps to the Front Rows in Human Rights WAGAWAGA!! Canada becomes the third country in the world tonight, at 8:30 pm, by a margin of 158 to 133, to legalize same-sex marriage! Wahoo! (now if I only wanted to get married, huh!!) Some articles about it: 365gay.com: this one is kinda cool cuz it talks about IF Stephen Harper could get it repealed IF he won a federal election. BTW, the survey stats I read today in the newspaper re the support of different Canadian political parties:
So you can see that all Stephen Harper's posturing about how everyone hates the Liberals, and that the nasty Liberals banded together with the nasty socialists (NDP) and separatists (Bloc) is anti-democratic is a bunch of caflooey. Basically, The Liberals plus the NDP plus the Bloc= 66% of the decided voters vs the Conservatives' 27%. And they keep pushing for a new election, as if somehow they are going to win it. The Liberal Party has lost two percent of voters, which if you ask me considering they supposedly are railroading through gay marriage AND are blamed for a federalist sponsorship scandal 10 yrs ago that is in the media now, is pretty amazing. Other than them, every other party has INCREASED it's share of the votes EXCEPT for the Conservatives who say OVER and OVER and OVER again that they speak for the majority of Canadians. Now they mean the majority of non-Quebec, non-gay, non-socialist, non-environmentalist Canadians I suppose... which makes the rest of us quite angry, esp those of us who are Quebec, bisexual, socialist environmentalist federalist Canadians. He seems to think that he has the monopoly on the Federalist Canadians. Well, screw you Mr. Harper. I am federalist AND I live in Quebec and I AM pro-equal rights. Screw you and your false divisive dichotomies. I never really thought I'd say this, but Thank-You Mr. Martin. This is the second time in two years that a Liberal government that I have NOT voted in has made me proud to call myself a Canadian. The first was when Jean Chretien said that Canada was NOT joining in the war on Iraq. I could (almost) kiss his feet for that... oh the mess we stayed out of! So yeah, my father thinks that Canada is going downhill. I am glad that his down is my up. cheers!!!! 3 People have left cute, callous or caring comments on the wench's wordiness!! Go to "notes" instead of comments ps, you'll need to email me for a username and password
