WARNING!!!! if you know me personally, you may read my diary, but if you do, you take the chance of hearing things you don't want to know, misunderstanding what I've written and being hurt by it. If you are unsure if it is ok to read, save yourself and me the grief and heartache, and ask first!!! Please note that this is a DIARY, ie my subjective feelings, hearsay, suppositions, and outpourings of ranting of the moment. It does not represent objective news, the whole of what I think of a topic or someone, or even a thought-out representation of any of the above. Keep that in mind. Thanks. * Here is a Diary Etiquette Read Me. Shopping at MEC!! Shopping shopping. But MEC (Mountain Equipment Coop), of which I am a member... they have great stuff, great prices, and are aware of ecology, fair trade etc.... they sent me an email. Dang them. Free shipping on online orders of $75 cdn and over until Dec 5. Now some things I could use? Gaiters for snow. When I snowshoe and xcountry ski, I get snow all up my calves. Yuck. Yay for gaiters. I am iffy between these fancy ones, these less fancy ones, and these totally not fancy ones. Made in Canada? Fitted? Not fitted?? What do you think??? Also, treads for walking. Here in Montreal, we get freezing rain all the time. Also we get melting days sandwiched between snowy days and totally cold freezing days. Ie snow turns to puddles and slush, turns to iceorama. BIG iceorama, everywhere. Huge puddles in the dog park, which become natural skating rinks. Not good for walking doggies in your boots. Sidewalks become iceorama. And wooo that is fun when you run for the bus, or try to walk up or down hills. Here are these cool Yaktrax traction devices. Like most traction devices for your boots, they are about $35 cdn. And then, MEC is apparently now using these funky BioBags, which are apparently not only biodegradable sometime between now and the demise of the known universe, but also guaranteed completely compostable in 10-45 days. I wonder if that is really really true. On their site it seems it is, and I could shove them into the compost pile in the back yard. They say 'polymers' which makes me uneasy. But you can make polymers out of anything. Just means a long poly carbon based molecule. hmmm. Anyways, that is a pretty cool sort of shopping bag. 3 People have left cute, callous or caring comments on the wench's wordiness!! Go to "notes" instead of comments ps, you'll need to email me for a username and password
