Hold on to what is good even if it is a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe even if it is a tree which stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do even if it is a long way from here.
Hold on to life even when it is easier letting go.
Hold on to my hand even when I have gone away from you.

WARNING!!!! if you know me personally, you may read my diary, but if you do, you take the chance of hearing things you don't want to know, misunderstanding what I've written and being hurt by it. If you are unsure if it is ok to read, save yourself and me the grief and heartache, and ask first!!! Please note that this is a DIARY, ie my subjective feelings, hearsay, suppositions, and outpourings of ranting of the moment. It does not represent objective news, the whole of what I think of a topic or someone, or even a thought-out representation of any of the above. Keep that in mind. Chopped Knuckles and Goofing with Tiny Girls, Photodocumentation

Photos photos photos.

Sorry, I've had lots of photos to put in here for a bit, but have either been scanning so much for my website etc or so busy that I have not been motivated to put any in here (except for my very sad knife)... as for the knife... I have looked on the lady who made it's website, and it seems that I could send it back to her and get the blade repaced and keep the handle. Dang I am so behumbled and shamefaced to have done that to my poor knife without a thought to its wellbeing. Dang. You know now i won't have it to play with at the Toronto Kink weekend.

As for that weekend, I have decided to totally go. I really do think it is the cutting 101 workshop that swayed me. And hell, I've already paid for the three nights of play parties and two days of workshops. I just have to pay to get there and the hotel. I could go on airmiles but I think that it will cost almost as much to get to and from the airports on both ends, in time and in $, as taking the bus. So bus it is. Cuz it gets me right downtown in TO. I can then walk to the hotel. So very exciting.

Well here is the first photo of the day. Unfortunately it doesn't look as gory as my real fingers looked... just to say that grass shears are quite sharp, and if you insist on cutting your whole backyard lawn by grabbing hold of the vegetation and snipping, like lopping off hunks of hair, then it is likely that you will catch your knuckles a coupla times. You know it would be easier to cut my lawn if I didn't let strawberry plants totally infiltrate it! But my strawberries are SOOOO good. I put all the trimmings onto a piece of old shower curtain and then dump it onto the compost (good to hide the slugs and vegetable trimmings). Now if I could only get more sun in the backyard... there are a couple of tomato plants that have grown up on the compost pile that are huge and chunky, with now tons of flowers. I dunno if I'll actually get any tomatoes out of them though what with it being late in the season, and not much sun in that corner. Dang. Compost makes THE best tomatoes.
I DID have my first two real tomatoes out of my front yard garden (trellises)... today I had a to-die-for greek salad (not a fake one with lettuce): chunks of tomatoes, english cuke again from my front yard, mild onion, feta and ripe olives with vinegar and olive oil. With a quarter roast chicken (bought roasted... and NO KNIFE NEEDED!). mmm. to die for.

And I finished watching the L-Word cds (ends at Episode 14)... and omigod what will I do now?? I want to know what will happen next! Will Tina leave Bette? Will Bette continue with that carpenter girl? What about the rabid fundamentalist woman whose daughter is a child-porn runaway? Will Jenny end up in a threesome with a Nice Jewish Biologist Guy and the Sexy Circus Lady?? What happened to Lisa, the Lesbian Man? (he is pricelessly horrible!)... well the lesbian (I don't think she's a dyke) in the dogpark gets Showcase so I might be able to go over and watch the new season if I bring the popcorn and pop. hehe. And isn't it great to hear the Murmurs music on tv?? yay! (you can get the soundtrack!)

I am SOOOO hooked! I must admit it is nice to see something on tv that reflects issues in my life, like censorship of art, dykes having kids (and not getting pregnant), bisexuality, betrayal in relationships involving women etc. Quite cool.

Next photo: The basement. See my pretty new dehumidifier, all cute and blue? The damn thing takes two gallons of water out of my basement per day! It is amazing! the basement doesn't smell like a mushroom farm anymore! It would be nice to get it hooked up to the plumbing so I don't have to empty it twice a day though. And the other thing to notice is the workbench. See all the boxes and tools on top of it? For god only knows what lame reason, I have mostly used it like a glorified table, ie working on top and leaving stuff on top. See all those doors and drawers? Yup.. duh, um, bet there'd be a lot more work space if I put stuff inside it instead of on TOP of it! hehe. Silly me
Next up is the visit of tinygirl with the mommies and the baby... here you can see her with doggies on the kitchen floor with all my toys. See what I mean about having chosen the perfect dog and kitchen for small children?? Yay!.

[And here you can see me and tinygirl running around in circles in the backyard and squealing, til we fall down on our backs. We did this over and over until I was quite dizzy, and she was still yelling "encore, encore!!" The little goofola!
Finally, last photo: here is tinygirl beating on the bedroom door. She has discovered that there are shiny shimmery red tinsel boas in my bedroom, as well as a Colorado Cinco de Mayo straw sombrero and other fun stuff. Her mom said "no no no" and closed the door. She was not amused! hehe. At least it kept her out of the dildos and vibrators!
Well the knife lady has written me back since I started this entry and she said I am certainly not the first person to learn the hard way not to pry with the knife. She however says she has not had much luck with taking blades off handles and replacing them. So maybe I'll get it reground like onewetleg says and and just buy an new one with a new handle. She has some beautiful handles. Though I'd rather see them in person and feel them in my hand than buy over the internet. hmm. Decisions decisions. Anyone have any suggestions?

On other news... I have started going to the gym again. God it feels good to work my muscles! yay!! Upper body here I come! I am also going to sign up for the aerobic boxing class. Maybe I should also look for a flamenco class not with my self-involved performance-oriented teacher who overcharges.

Interesting human rights case of the day is the lawsuit brought by the thalidomide woman who in 2000 was refused her seat on Air France until she got a paramedic to fly with her. They claim that she did not fulfil the basic safety requirements since she couldn't put the seatbelt on or the oxygen mask, by herself. Hmmm. I wonder if they apply that across the board. I mean, they required a PARAMEDIC!! for a woman who is not ill, and who is an adult. If you are six you can fly, but not if you are lacking limbs. Interesting that they don't ask children to have a paramedic with them, just an adult who will help them out. What if you have a broken arm or arthritis? And it seems that they could have just asked the person sitting next to the lady to help her with her seatbelt and oxygen mask if need be. She had to buy a new ticket and hire a paramedic. EEEK.

Last subject today. My comics website. It is finished month # 5 now... The page per day #'s have gone from 105 in April, to 182 in June, 236 in July and 337 in August. The visits per day have gone from 32 to 47, 49, 64, and now 79. The total monthly pages have gone from 2426 to 6290 to 7318 to 10455. yay! It is not huge numbers but I am not listed that many places. In a year or two I'll have more hits. It is nice that it is climbing every month. Well, that's all.

Nite nite!
