Hold on to what is good even if it is a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe even if it is a tree which stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do even if it is a long way from here.
Hold on to life even when it is easier letting go.
Hold on to my hand even when I have gone away from you.

WARNING!!!! if you know me personally, you may read my diary, but if you do, you take the chance of hearing things you don't want to know, misunderstanding what I've written and being hurt by it. If you are unsure if it is ok to read, save yourself and me the grief and heartache, and ask first!!! Please note that this is a DIARY, ie my subjective feelings, hearsay, suppositions, and outpourings of ranting of the moment. It does not represent objective news, the whole of what I think of a topic or someone, or even a thought-out representation of any of the above. Keep that in mind. Thanks. * Here is a Diary Etiquette Read Me.

Deamonte Love

Some inspiring news again, for a change: Deamonte Love, 6 yrs old, leads and cares for a group of 6 other children ages 5mos to 4 yrs.

I have no idea what idiots would take 7 children ages 6 and under (as young as 5 months!) and leave them in a disaster zone with no adult to care for them. Convince parents to give up their children, on the promise they'd go back for them in the same helicopter 25 minutes later, and then just not go back. What kind of inhuman cruelty and negligence is that? Whomever did that should be fired for criminal negligence. What were the odds that taking 7 little tiny kids away from their caregivers in a chaotic disaster situation would result in their deaths? Pretty damn good if you ask me. Kind of like a daycare provider abandonning kids in the middle of a shopping mall parkinglot or a forest in the middle of the night when the parents thought they were entrusted to responsible adults. Worse. Those kids could have been raped or drowned anywhere in New Orleans.

Criminal negligence.

If I were Deamonte Love right now, I would be feeling proud of myself for being a good responsible eldest child of the group (speaking from my vantage point of being big sister myself). And if I were Deamonte's parents I would be spilling over with pride too. That's one great little guy. A real hero.
